Day 35

Dear diary,

We have finally reached Australia! I have already searched for my parents but they're nowhere to be found. I am getting more anxious by the minute. However, I am still happy that Rashida, Omar and Bibi are still with me.

Day 33

Dear diary,

I am so happy! Australians have finally come to rescue us! I immediately recognized the flag of the warship as it was the same on the Australian's shirt back at the refugee camp. We're saved!

Day 34

Dear diary,

I am now on the warship that the Australians were in. Andrew is really kind and caring and gave Bibi and I delicious Australian food. However, he says that he hasn't found mum and dad yet. I hope that he finds them soon. I am really worried about them.

Day 31

Dear diary,

Our boat is now sinking into the ocean and no one is coming to rescue us. Bibi is now clutching on to me and everybody on the deck is huddling together. I am starting to feel desperate and from the look on Bibi's face, I know that she is desperate too. To make things worst, there's a storm brewing up.

Day 32

Dear diary,

We are now under the deck trying to scoop out the water in the boat. The water is now up to my knees and up to Bibi's chest. She looks really exhausted as she's only ten and she has to do so much physical work. I hope that someone comes to rescue us soon.

Day 30

Dear diary,

I am now with the rest of the people who are abandoned by the sailors and smugglers. They have left with a group of pirates. One of them even kicked my hip very hard for not letting him kick my ball and for making him fall down. I am really worried as everybody is trapped on a leaking boat.

Day 28

Dear diary,

What a close shave! Today the sailors told us that there was a mistake in the calculation of the boat fare and threatened to beat anyone, who does not wish to pay another one hundred dollars, with a club. Luckily, Rashida had a watch which was enough for the four of us to pay for the fare. I really hope that our sufferings end and we go to Australia soon. I am also worried about what would happen to mum and dad if they went through the same situation.

Day 29

Dear diary,

I'm really sad today as it is Bibi's birthday and I totally forgot about it. Furthermore I do not even have anything to give her. I also found out many things about Rashida's family. It also reminded me of mum and dad and my uncles who died in the war.

Day 26

Dear diary,

I am now baking bread in a diesel engine so that Bibi can eat them. However, the sailors there are very impatient as they keep on trying to take the bread before it is cooked. I hope that Bibi does not wake up as she too will do the same. I also that the water in the deck is up to my knees. I've asked the sailors if the boat was leaking but they did not understand me. I have decided not to tell the others about this as they might get worried.

Day 27

Dear diary,

People are now calling me a genius because of my bread but I am too seasick to be proud of myself. However I calmed myself down by thinking why we are watching people suffer and getting sick ourselves - to get to Australia.

Day 25

Dear diary

We are all now talking to the girl. Her name is Rashida. She even offered us sardines to eat and water to drink. I have never met anyone like her. I also offered to teach her how to juggle the ball with your legs. Furthermore, I found flour in her bag which can be used for baking bread! I am feeling slightly better now.

Day 23

Dear diary

We have no choice but to get on to the other boat. I was utterly shocked when I heard that our boat had no radio or radar! However, the boy is back and I found out his name too. His name is Omar. He got our ball too! Poor Bibi she is now crying as she is no longer with Mum and Dad.

Day 24

Dear diary

Things aren't going very well in the boat as many threw up there, including Omar. While the food was served, the clothe of the person in front of me caught fire. Fortunately I was able to put it out. However, I froze with shock when I saw the person. She was a teenage girl who was just wearing a T-shirt and shorts with her arms and legs bare! When the girl wasn't given any food, we tried to fight for her and ended up not getting anything for ourselves! I also seem to like this girl already.

Day 21

Dear diary

I'm very scared! The boy who tried to steal the ball fell into the water and Bibi is now thrown to the side of the boat by a smuggler in yellow overalls! It's all because of my ball. We tried to get it back and we failed.No one wants to help us; they are too busy rushing to the boats. How am I going to save Bibi and the boy now?

Day 22

Dear diary

Why am I so unlucky! Mum and Dad are on a different boat now! We'll never be able to catch up with them! However, I am slightly glad that Bibi has survived. I really hope that the boat stops and turns around.
